Definition and implementation of data management for the TotalEnergies group

Customer issues

TotalEnergie has decided, through its Chief Data Officer Group, to further organize and ramp up its data management. In January 2019, the Total Data Management Group (TDMG) was formed, made up of the Data Officers from each of Total's business lines or support functions. Its objective was to build up the skills of a reference team, to offer methodological support to the Data Officers and, more broadly, to lead a cross-business data network.

Key points

Tasmane accompanied the Group Data Officer, through two modes of action:

• The contribution of expertise around Data Management,
• Acculturation and change, through specific animation modes (seminars, communication supports, etc.) to ensure the success of the approach.

Results

• Formalization of Data Management fundamentals for the Total Group: best practices, maturity assessment tools, data classification, development of roadmaps, innovative Data Management tools.
• The animation of the sector / data community: exchange seminars, communication animation, data events.
• Integration of Data Management in Total's Digital Factory - particularly in the processing of digital use cases
• Launch of a data mapping process: PoC of a data cataloging tool, development of a mapping approach, functional animation of the tool.
• The framing of a master data management approach at the Group level.

In general, Tasmane has contributed to the birth and growth of the group's data management system, through close support, methodological input, and the ability to lead diverse and dispersed players.
