Development of the TotalEnergies Group data management roadmap

Context and customer issues

The DOC (Data Officers Council) brings together the Data Officers of TotalEnergies' business and support branches. It is led and coordinated by the Group Data Officer.

Initiated in 2020, the DOC needed a vision and a course for the next two years. To do this, the Data Officer Group wanted to engage in a mobilizing and structuring exercise to formalize common objectives around data management. In addition, beyond the circle of data officers, the results of the exercise had to be "communicated and communicable" to a wider audience in the Total data network.

Key points of the mission

Tasmane supported the DOC by formalizing the TOTAL Data Management vision and strategy through an analysis of each of the situations and expectations of the Council members as well as those of the Company functions (architecture, data office, digital factory). The objective was to identify the structuring needs and objectives common to the various branches.

Results

This exercise allowed:

• Formalization of a high-level vision (vision of data management, data governance, elements of the data architecture strategy).
• A detailed description of about twenty work actions, with the identification of the carriers, the key milestones, and the potential risks.
• The development of a detailed roadmap for the next 2 years.
• The production of a communication document, synthetic and useful for data officers, aimed at promoting the DOC's vision to all data players.
• The definition of indicators and a method for monitoring the progress of this roadmap, in a directly usable format.
